A New Beginning in Internet Marketing is on the Horizon

After years of trying to make money online I’m going back to the beginning in internet marketing. It’s also called online marketing. Yes I have made some money, but never enough to satisfy me or enough to say I was truly successful.

I’ve learned a lot. Many things have changed since I started being actively online in 2004. Some money making opportunities have disappeared while many more new things have replaced them. However, it is hard to know beforehand which things can make money and which are a waste of time.

Domain Investing – a not too Well-known Business

The many thousands of dollars I’ve made selling a few of my domain names hasn’t helped much in creating wealth for me. It has essentially been squandered away on shiny new objects and especially domain renewals.

Yes you can make money investing in domains. I can attest to that. But I feel it is a long, hard road ahead when you consider over two million domains expire annually. That makes it difficult to sell your domains, but some people do very well.

I rarely, but it does happen, make money if I sell one of my domain names. That involves more time and importantly, more connections in the business than I currently have. I have about 125 domains at the current time. However, I am not actively trying to sell them other than having a few listed on my sites.

Once in a while I mention one or two on Facebook or Google+. If you’re interested in the domain business I can give you a few tips. Here’s one. Listen to this 26 year old who made $5 million dollars in his first year in the business.

Step 1 – Blogging 2016 and Beyond

Beginning now, I plan to blog here on this Yolky.com site of mine. I’ll write of my experiences in the process of trying to make money online. Making money may be hard, it may be easy, I don’t know. But you’ll find out as I go along that path.

I assume with my experience I can hopefully avoid some of the pitfalls along the way. But only time will tell. Right now I’m making a few very small commissions from affiliate products. But that doesn’t excite me in the least.

At this stage of my life my goal is to make up for all those years (about half of my adult life) that I didn’t work. That was by choice. I cannot make up the time. However, I think I can make up the money I never made during those times I didn’t work. That’s quite a sum since I generally had well-paying jobs those years.

Small Affiliate Commissions are not Exciting to Me

After years of making small affiliate commissions it no longer excites me. Yes it helps, but for all the effort involved I don’t feel it will make much difference long term. Besides with my age I cannot count on anything long-term.

All my affiliate commissions have come from ads on some of my websites. So it is essentially very little work involved in making those commissions. I do, however, have a lot of websites compared to most people.

Something is missing with small affiliate commissions.

I am, however, aware that newcomers to internet marketing would probably like to see any affiliate commissions. That’s regardless of the size. So I am not totally ignoring small commissions as you will see.

So my goal is to make significant money, life changing amounts that could totally change the life of just about anyone.

Some will laugh or scuff at this idea, but I know it can be done. The big money probably won’t be the first step. Nevertheless, making big money will be in the back of my mind behind many of the things I’ll probably do.

I feel it is better to put in the effort to make a lot of money instead of a pittance. Probably the effort is not that much different, just more focused on the things that work best.

Spending Money to Help Shortcut the Process

Sometimes taking the cheap way out works. Often that’s the long hard way in the long run. That’s not written in stone, but in my experience it’s always seems to be something missing in the process.

That’s what I’m trying to avoid. The missing piece(s) of the puzzle can set you back big-time. Missing knowledge can stop you cold, even after a lot of hard work. I think knowledge is more important than making a few bucks.

What’s more, things that sound easy often turn out to be the very thing you cannot or don’t want to do. Sometimes they stop you in your tracks. There are lots of reasons for that. One common reason is oftentimes things which appear easy require lots of actions.

For example, setting up a blog when you’ve never done that. In this particular case I’ve found WordPress is the best deal and most versatile and not necessarily much money need to be devoted to your WordPress site.

Another, creating a simple banner ad. It’s easy if you know how. If you don’t and are starting from scratch it’s not as simple as it sounds.

Take me, for example, I’ve probably created well over 200 banner ads with simple editors like MS Paint. See below and bottom of this post.

However, in one of the recent classes I took it was advised to use Adobe Photoshop. That stopped me cold because I didn’t want to spend days or weeks learning a complicated image editing program. I still have that subscription, but never used it. It unfortunately cost more to cancel the years subscription to Photoshop than to keep it active.

I’m going to document what I do. I hope it will show you what could turn out to be a profitable adventure</a>.

The advantage I might have is I could be more selective than someone younger or with less experience. That’s because of my advanced age and less time to pursue online activities. Just that one thing alone could possibly save you a lot of time and frustration.

So I’ll be shooting from beginner internet marketer to having a successful online business in the shortest possible time. Almost certainly I will have to spend some money doing this, but the results will be worth it. After all, any business will cost something to start or run.

What’s my money goal? I can’t say here. But be assured it’s more than most well-paying jobs will pay here in the United States. What’s important for you is that this will be able to be run from any place in the world.
