Internet Marketing Housecleaning – IM Product to Sell as my Own
By Charles “Yolky” Harmon
Sometimes a great internet marketing product comes out that you want, but the money aspect is iffy. That happens to me a lot since I don’t have any disposable income and haven’t had any for many years. It is always a problem for me to buy anything regarding Internet marketing( IM). Regardless, I now need an IM Product to Sell.
Aside from no income, an even worst situation exists in my case. My wife hates seeing me on the computer. So not only that, but spending money on IM products begs for even more problems. Well let’s just say I’ll hear from her in many ways, all not something to write about here.
I Just Missed Out on a Great Product to Sell
I don’t have a product to sell and I need my own product to help build my list. So I started looking for such a product.
I didn’t have to look far. After reading a lot of posts and seeing a lot of of his videos I felt confident Brett Rutecky was a smart and conscientious programmer/developer and seller. So I made up my mind I’d look into some of his products.
I didn’t even have to start looking because I received an email about a special webinar for one of his products. I checked out the webinar and their offer was just what I was interested in.
An Agency Access to Sell their IM Product as my Own
That multi-purpose product was just what I was looking for. I don’t have the time to create a product on my own. Even if I did, I prefer to have someone else do it. Yes it cost money to have that done. At this stage of my life I have other things I’m interested in or involved in. Product creation has to take a back seat even though it might be important.
So their internet marketing product was probably a perfect example of a product I’d like to sell. That’s especially true if I could sell it as my own product and keep all the money. But there was a problem. Not with the product, but with me. The cost was too high for me at the present time.
Although I felt the offer was reasonable for the value, I just didn’t have the necessary funds available. In spite of that, I toyed with several potential ways I could possibly swing the deal. Not a good thought, but at the very worst I could go into debt. At least I’d have a product to sell that was worthwhile. It would also fit in with some promotional plans I have been contemplating.
I still was trying to figure out how I could get that agency access. Get it without having to owe money in the process. The Sunday weekend deadline was only a day away. Not much time to come up with a plan.
Company came by Sunday – business and Pleasure Conversations Ensued
That was Sunday, two days ago. One piece of the puzzle was missing, but I was confident I’d figure it out and get that product. My daughter and her husband came by in the afternoon and brought their dog. He’s a fun dogie we always like to see.
We talked about his new business and our upcoming family trip to the Philippines. In between conversations I ran to my computer to check that the offer was still up. It was, and the timer now showed 19+ hours to go before it would be taken down.
That was strange because Saturday when I originally saw the offer it showed about 18 hours to go. That would put the ending time of the offer at midnight Sunday. I figured they might have extended the offer time. However, in the original emails they said the offer would come down some time Sunday.
When I had first seen the timer that would have been Sunday midnight. Anyway I had to get back to my guests. We talked a few more minutes and bid our good byes.
Wow, I Screwed up Royally!
Our guests left and I was back to the computer almost exactly an hour later. It was 10:12 pm Sunday and I was relieved to see the timer showing 18+ hours left to go before the offer ended. I had finally figured out a way to get the offer and not go in debt.
I clicked the offer button and zap, right to JVZoo home page. What the!! I went back to the offer page and tried it again. Same result! Apparently that offer had already been taken down. I was really Peed off by then. I had assumed the offer would last until midnight.
That unwanted event made my day – a very bad day!
What Screwed me up – don’t let it Happen to You
My big screw up was not checking my email first. Often sellers send one or more emails regarding offers they have currently going. Had I checked my email Sunday I would have seen an email from them indicating the offer would end at 9:00 pm EST. Living in California I had originally assumed 12 midnight and I assumed that was backed up with their timer on the offer.
Being a long-time programmer I am usually cautious about assuming anything. When programming, assuming anything can get you in big trouble. Sure enough when you make assumptions, especially if you depend on them, they don’t hold true. This isn’t programming and here it happened to me.
This wasn’t the first time I assumed an offer would end at 12 midnight and I got locked out. It has happened a couple of times before, several years ago. Then too the offer was in the Eastern time zone. Unfortunately both those times the seller never mentioned any time zone. So when I clicked Buy sometime near 12 midnight I was unpleasantly surprised the offer had been closed almost three hours.
So a word to the wise don’t wait until the last minute to get in for offers with a countdown timer. Don’t let time zones screw you up. Be sure to check for any last minute emails from the seller.
So what next for me in internet marketing?
I missed out on that offer to essentially have a worthwhile product to sell as my own. It is unlikely they will offer it again, but if they do and I am in any sort of position to buy it I will. Back to the drawing board.
With all my websites and domain names I always have something to do or possibly fall back on if necessary. I’ve been thinking about Kindle for the past week or so.
It is very likely that’s my next move. I have some courses on Kindle. I previously wrote two travel related ebooks I could potentially convert to Kindle and sell them on Amazon.
If by chance they didn’t sell well, I could use them as lead generators by selling them for $.99 and building a travel list for my three travel sites. Travel affiliate products and services pay well and that too could generate money for an IM product to sell which is what my goal is for now.
I could conceivably end up with a small recurring income (or potentially large recurring income if I created a series of Kindle books). That would generate money for Brett’s Agency offer in the event he reopens it again in the future.
