A Few Internet Marketing Housecleaning Chores I have to do

In a month or so I will start in earnest to try to make money in internet marketing. But before that there are some internet marketing housecleaning chores I need to do and get out of the way as much as possible.

Probably these are not things you have to do. Since I’ve been online so long and involved in so many things it is hard to start over fresh.

Website Hosting Switch

I have about 40 websites up and running at the present time. I’m looking to change hosting company. All are hosted with the same company in multiple accounts. Too many of my sites have been down periodically over the last couple of years.

I also host three sites for a client and they are unhappy about their sites going down periodically. I don’t blame them. Unfortunately is not my fault, not something I can correct unless switching hosting companies solves the problem.

Let me mention just one thing. Because I have multiple sites I opted for VPS hosting. In my limited experience these types of accounts seem to be a magnet for hackers. Hackers know these types of accounts have a lot of sites on them – a perfect target for them.

I’ve done this before, with more sites, but it is not fun. Sometimes things go wrong and it is a mess trying to get a site back up and running. Previously the hosting company did this transferring of sites for free, but it looks like now I will have to do most of the transfers myself or pay a ridiculous price for them to do it.

Internet Marketing Housecleaning: Consolidating Websites

I need to reduce the hosting costs, which will be higher than what I currently pay. Its not a low amount. So I am going to combine three of my sites into a single site. That’s going to be a lot of work and will keep me busy for a while.

In addition I am eliminating about 11 of those 40 or so websites. This will reduce the stress level of having so many sites to worry about. That will also reduce the workload of keeping all my sites updated with current plugins and revisions of WordPress.

Also I am going to have a friend of mine in India write some articles for me. They are for a new website I want to create about India. It is a long term project that I hope to eventually make money from.

Continue Writing Blog Posts or Articles

These blog posts take quite a bit of time to write. That’s unlike what you might read from other writers about writing a blog post in a few minutes. It’s a rare case for me if I can write a blog post or a simple article in a few minutes.

A lot of times just finding images for the post or article takes up most of the time. In spite of this I will try to keep my individual posts short if I possibly can.

Online Marketing Training

I’m also going over a lot of online training in marketing which takes up quite a bit of my time. Although I know a lot of it already, it is a good refresher. Marketing is very important if you are trying to make money online where you have something to sell or promote.

Effective marketing can make the difference between success and failure.
